Finally, a young boy steps forward. He has traveled to the mainland once and knows a few words of the King’s language. He translates for the physician: ‘Drink this. It is bitter, but it cures the fever. Do not eat after midnight.’

Only then do the villagers live.

“আমি শুরুতেই যে দ্বীপের গল্পটি বললাম, সেই দ্বীপটি হলো আমাদের হৃদয়। ডাক্তার হলো কুরআন। আর অনুবাদ হলো বোধশক্তি। আজকের জুমুআতে আমরা শিখবো, কেন আল্লাহর আদেশ বোঝা ফরজ।”

One day, a ship carrying a royal physician crashes on the shore. The physician finds the villagers suffering from a terrible fever. He has a chest full of the most powerful medicine—a cure that will heal them instantly.

This structure fulfills the of Arabic recitation while making the Fard (obligation) of understanding accessible to the Bangla-speaking congregation.

(Translation: "O believers! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims.")

But there is a problem. The physician only speaks the language of the King. The villagers only speak their native island dialect. The physician opens the chest, holds up the bottle, and speaks eloquently about the ingredients and the dosage— They hear beautiful sounds, but they cannot drink the medicine because they don’t know the instructions.

“Innallaha wa malaaikatahu yusalluna alan nabiyy…” Bangla Meaning: “নিশ্চয়ই আল্লাহ ও তাঁর ফেরেশতারা নবীর উপর দরুদ পাঠান। হে মুমিনরা! তোমরাও তার উপর দরুদ ও সালাম পাঠাও।”
