This is not meant to be a terrifying threat, but rather a profound psychological truth. If you have no external guide to check your blind spots, your own ego (the Nafs ) will become your guide. And the ego is a master of deception; it will convince you that your anger is justice, your laziness is patience, and your delusions are divine revelations.

In a world that constantly tells us to be our own boss, to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps, and to trust only our own judgment, the concept of a Murshid feels almost revolutionary. Murshid

If you are lucky enough to find one, hold onto their hem with both hands. If you haven’t found one yet, make a sincere prayer ( Dua ) from the depths of your heart: "Oh God, send me a guide who will lead me to You, and not to their own ego."
