But here, the saint’s legacy is twisted into something dark and oppressive. 1. The Gorgeous, Gothic Stop-Motion Director Fernando Cortizo spent nearly a decade bringing this vision to life. The film uses traditional stop-motion puppets, but the lighting is pure film noir. The shadows are deep, the rain is constant, and the woodlands feel claustrophobic. The puppets themselves have a rough, textured quality that makes the horror feel tangible—not slick or polished, but real .
