It has been 14 months since Mark, a wealthy architect, died unexpectedly. His widow, Sloane (29) , a former contemporary dancer, is now the sole guardian of his teenage daughter, Kenzie (18) . Kenzie, still raw with grief, blames Sloane for not “saving” her father. Their relationship is a cold war fought with silent meals and slammed doors.

Cuffed to a pipe, Dante screams threats. Sloane and Kenzie sit outside on the porch, silent. Finally, Kenzie whispers, “I saw you hit him. You didn’t even think.” Sloane replies, “I never have to think when it comes to you.”

In the final act, Sloane doesn’t call the police. She decides to play a game of her own. Using her dancer’s body control and years of watching Mark negotiate, she stages a fake breakdown. She “confesses” to Dante that the money is in a safety deposit box… at a remote cabin in the woods (their old family retreat). She leads both Dante and a secretly following Kenzie into a trap.
